Barry Douglas Piano Recital
The Irish virtuoso pianist Barry Douglas, returns to The Menuhin Hall for his second visit, with a most attractive programme of romantic piano music. Schubert’s glorious Impromptus were written in the wonderfully productive year of 1827, just a year before his death. Mussorgsky’s monumental ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ dates from 1874. This work, a remarkable suite of piano pieces, is a tribute to his dear friend, Viktor Hartmann, the painter and architect, who had died just a year early.
