International Music Day: Lodestar Trio

International Music Day: Lodestar Trio

Initiated by Yehudi Menuhin to promote music across society and bring together nations in a language without borders, International Music Day has been held on 1 October each year since 1975. We come together the day after to honour this tradition with an exploration of world music that will include workshops with the Lodestar Trio. Lodestar Trio is a unique collaboration between Scandinavian folk music stars Erik Rydvall and Olav Mjelva, and British violin virtuoso Max Baillie. Together they bring a spirit of groove and improvisation into Baroque music by combining traditional Nordic string instruments with the violin. Tickets for this event will also be valid for the lunchtime concert at 1.15pm with pupils of the Yehudi Menuhin School and workshops throughout the rest of the afternoon, as part of our celebration of International Music Day.
