Showcase concert: Saturday 11 July

When guitar first began to be taught at the School, there was very little repertoire that paired the guitarists with the string players. Over the years, Principal Guitar Teacher Richard Wright has made arrangements and transcriptions of many works for two, three or four players, and the selection from Schumann’s Dichterliebe was made for the annual Tour of the North (which had to be abandoned because of Covid-19).

Most of the pieces in this programme will be familiar to regular audiences at The Menuhin Hall, beginning as it does with Bach and ending with Chopin. It is unusual to have only part of a sonata in a concert, but the movements in Franck’s Sonata all have their own energy and can stand alone quite successfully.

This concert will go live at 7.30pm on Saturday 11 July.
