Children's Corner: Sunday 5 July

One of the great challenges of the lockdown era was to find ways for our pianists to collaborate; sound-lag across the internet makes accompaniments and chamber music virtually impossible so we had to get creative! In this recording of Babar, all fourteen of the School’s piano students have joined forces to record movements which have been edited together, along with a narration provided by Chris Jarvis, a CBBC presenter, to create what is almost certainly the world’s first multi-artist performance of the piece. The music itself is utterly charming and represents Poulenc at his very best. Joining Babar in this concert curated for the child in all of us is a series of highly accessible miniatures, including perennial favourites by Faure and Wieniawski, and curiosities by Dragonetti and Hofmeyr.

This concert will go live at 2pm on Sunday 5 July.
